Suburban Garden Overview

This family garden had somewhat declined in the years of water restrictions and its use had altered.

Requirements:

bulletExtend paving area under verandah to create a more usable outdoor dining space

bulletRejuvenate garden using several of the large existing trees and a hedge

bulletMaintain existing lawn for ball sports but reshape to create more interest

bulletPlantings to be tough enough to withstand active ball sports

bulletScreen shed with plantings

An increase in paved area was provided while maintaining a significant amount of lawn.
A clear separation between the lawn close to the house and area for ball sports was created with the matching curved garden beds. This also provided a view and sense of depth from the verandah.
New plantings were added to the existing trees and shrubs that the clients wished to retain.
Wire trellising and planting of shrubs and climbers ensure that the shed will eventually be screened from view.
